Accounting that starts where the school's money actually moves
In most schools the fee software and the accounts are two different worlds. The accountant re-enters each day's collection into Tally, reconciles the bank by hand, and the trial balance never quite matches the fee register. Errors are found in the audit, months later.
In SSMS, fee obligations, payments and accounting are kept distinct but connected. Every fee event — dues raised, concessions, receipts, cancellations, refunds, cheque bounces, wallet adjustments — posts a voucher automatically from your ledger mapping. Salaries post from payroll; purchases with GST and TDS post from stores; depreciation posts from the asset register. The accountant reviews instead of retyping.
Accounting the way Indian accountants expect
Groups and ledgers follow Tally-compatible names. Receipt, payment, contra, journal, sales, purchase, credit-note and debit-note vouchers each have their own numbering per financial year. Posted vouchers are corrected by reversal, never edited. Cost centres, bill-wise details, TDS sections with thresholds, GST on sales and purchases with HSN/SAC, cheque printing, budgets and year closing are all there.
Tally, both ways
If your auditor works in Tally Prime, export a Tally XML file of masters and vouchers — each voucher exported once unless deliberately re-exported. Vouchers entered in Tally can be imported back, previewed first, with conflicts listed for you to accept or keep.
What Accounting, GST & Tally does
01Automatic postings
Fees, online receipts, refunds, payroll, purchases, POS sales and depreciation post to the right ledgers on their own, every few minutes and before every report.
02All voucher types
Receipt, payment, contra, journal, sales, purchase, credit and debit notes; optional and post-dated vouchers; reversal instead of edits.
03Bank reconciliation
Import any bank's statement (headers found automatically under the letterhead), match by reference, cash deposit, cheque batch or amount, and park unexplained credits in suspense.
04GST and TDS
GST on sales and purchases from ledger tax settings with CGST/SGST or IGST lines; TDS by section with thresholds, challans and pending reports.
05Cost centres and budgets
Split expenses by cost centre (each school of a group, or departments) and compare actuals with budgets by ledger or group.
06Every statutory report
Balance sheet, income & expenditure, trial balance, receipts & payments, day book, ledgers, cash and bank books, outstandings with ageing, cash flow and ratio analysis.
07Tally Prime export and import
XML export of masters and vouchers with duplicate prevention; import from Tally with preview and conflict handling.
08Year end, the Tally way
Income and expenses restart each year automatically; closing a year locks it, and reopening needs a reason.
