Report cards that are right the first time — and on time

Report-card week, without the all-nighters

Report cards are the most visible thing a school produces, and the riskiest. One wrong formula and a child's percentage is off on a document the parent keeps for life. The traditional fix is to check everything by hand, twice — which is why report-card week is the longest week of the term.

SSMS calculates results from locked mark sheets only, using the assessment scheme for the class: components and terms combined by rule, moderation and grace applied, grades looked up, pass / compartment / fail decided, and ranks worked out if you use them. Students with missing marks are listed as incomplete instead of being silently calculated wrong.

A clear approval path

Report cards follow the path a principal expects: calculated → verified by the class teacher → approved by the principal → published. Signatures for both are printed from stored signature images. On publishing, each parent receives a private link by SMS; cards of students blocked for fees are held with the reason, and the link checks again when it is opened.

Corrections that leave a trail

A published report card is never edited. If a mark is corrected, the result is recalculated and a new version of the card is made; when it is published, the old link stops working, the parent is told "updated report card", and both versions stay in history. Each card also holds a snapshot of everything printed on it — so later changes to the student record can never alter an issued card.
