Attendance is the data every other report depends on

Attendance feeds report cards, eligibility for board exams, transport, hostel roll calls and the principal's morning check. Yet in many schools it still lives in a paper register that reaches the office at lunchtime, if at all. By the time a parent learns their child was absent, it is the next day.

In SSMS a class teacher marks the whole section on a phone-friendly screen — everyone is present by default, so only absentees are tapped. Schools that take attendance twice a day or every period get exactly that, because the attendance policy is set per school, board, class or even section. When the day is closed, absent parents receive an SMS, WhatsApp or app notification automatically.

Devices welcome, but never the only source of truth

RFID cards and biometric devices send punches to SSMS through an API key. Punches are matched against the timetable and the day's attendance, and anything that does not add up — a punch with no class attendance, or a student marked present with no punch — becomes an exception for someone to reconcile rather than a silent error.

Closed days stay closed

Once a day is closed it becomes read-only. Changes go through a correction request that someone approves, and the old and new values are kept in the audit trail. That protects you when attendance is questioned in a board eligibility case or a parent dispute.
